Cefixime

Indications/Uses

Otitis media, upper & lower resp tract infections, uncomplicated UTI, uncomplicated gonorrhea.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult & childn ≥30 kg 50-100 mg twice daily. Severe infections: 200 mg twice daily. Childn <30 kg 1.5-3 mg/kg twice daily. Severe infections: 6 mg/kg twice daily.

Administration

Should be taken with food.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

Special Precautions

History of penicillin allergy, renal dysfunction, malnutrition. Pregnancy & lactation. Babies <6 mth.

Adverse Reactions

Allergic reactions, haematological changes, GI disturbances, vit K deficiencies.
